4 Ways To Complete Your To-Do List
4 Ways To Complete Your To-Do List
Ask people who are forced into submission to organize their lives and they will tell you how hard it is to take control of their to-do lists. But howsoever hard it is to complete, there is no better tool than this for effective time management.
Whether you create it for business use or personal, it would never cease to work. That brings us back to the question: How do you complete it? Read on for 4 effective ways:
1. Do not Make it Long
Don’t be over-ambitious. You can only follow the list if it doesn’t intimidate you. And a to-do list for the next whole month surely will! There is way too much to be done, to be accomplished. You will be wary to even start with in the first place. Make weekly lists, to be on the safer side. And make sure that it remains clean and concise with no room for irregularities and confusion.
2. One Chunk at a Time
Your list must be ordered task-wise. It must be properly segregated according to the nature of the activity. The first thing you must do is to keep telling yourself that ‘this task should take no more than 30 minutes’. Or you can divide the tasks session-wise, pre-allotting time for each session. The smaller the divisions you make, lesser will you be overwhelmed by the work. This is the fastest way of completing your task, and apparently the most tried and tested one too!
3. Juggle Smartly Between Hard and Small Tasks
Don’t put all the hard tasks first, as it will end up intimidating you more. The first two tasks will exhaust you enough not to start with the third one. You might even start jumping the list. The best way is to keep them in an alternate order. Accomplish two hard tasks and then reward yourself with an easier one.
4. Get Rid of Distractions
When you are following your list, don’t let your focus wander through less-important stuff. That is not to say that you turn into a robot and only work on the self-written instructions, but start ignoring emails and phone calls that will only waste your time. A small distraction might end up departing you completely from your list.
Having a to-do list to complete can be as challenging, intimidating or fun as you like it to be! So, set yourself goals such as the ones mentioned above, and get your tasks done more efficiently!
